Evolving Lighting Design Research

Ute Besenecker Ph.D., KTH School of Architecture, Associate Professor in Lighting Design.

Lighting is a wide field; design research plays an important part in complementing research in engineering and the sciences to more fully describe the impact of light in a complex spatial context. Interdisciplinary research provides the opportunity to better understand the phenomenon of light, its qualities, and its impacts on us and our surroundings.

Ute’s background spans architecture, lighting design, research focusing on the impact of light on perception and wellbeing, product management as well as policy development.
