Colin Ball, BDP, London ”The Colours of Light”

Colin Ball leads BDP’s award winning lighting team, respected for innovation and depth of research in all of their projects. A keen educator, Colin contributes to Masters courses in London, Wismar and Stockholm.

 From a background education in architecture Colin has worked as a Lighting Designer for 28 years, joining BDP in 2011. An industry leader invited to give evidence to the House of Lords in 2023 on Light Pollution, and awarded Freedom of the City of London in 2024. Colin sat on the accreditation panel of the IALD for 4 years expanding the global membership by 60%. He has developed a series of lectures that look at how Light in Faith is represented from historical, religious and psychological perspectives in architecture, film and contemporary art, which he has delivered across the UK, Europe, Middle East and the Americas.

He has authored a number of articles on elements of these lectures for international professional magazines.
